What You Should Know About Attorney Fees
if You Have Been Injured in an Accident
As a victim of a personal injury accident, you may receive communications from numerous attorneys offering to represent you. We also are asking you for an opportunity to explain what our law firm may be able to do to assist you in recovering any money you are entitled under the law.
We also would like to make you aware that there is no such thing as a standard personal injury attorney fee agreement. Different attorneys may charge different fees for the same services. Before you sign a contingent attorney fee agreement, you should know:
Some clients can save thousands of dollars by retaining an attorney for an hourly fee instead of a contingent percentage fee.
Contingent attorney fee agreements may be for substantially less than one-third of the money recovered and may allow for the percentage to decline as the recovery increases.
Even if you sign a contingent fee agreement, you will have the right to discharge your attorney at any time. There are several ways in which a discharged attorney may be compensated for work done before discharge. It is subject to negotiation at the time the fee agreement is signed.
A number of qualified attorneys may be willing to compete for the opportunity to represent you by negotiating their fees.
Even if you do not retain our firm to handle your claim, we may be able to assist you in selecting another attorney and negotiating a money-saving fee agreement. We can be reached at 765-420-0230.
